An avid comic book and movie fan, Mike's first foray into the debaucherous BOTU world was with 2006's Te Whare and Te Furious. Here Mike impressed with matte paintings aplenty, carving himself a niche within the crew for jobs which require visual flair. Mike has been involved in almost every BOTU production since in a variety of capacities. While still serving up some fantastic artwork (old-timey BOTU logo for Gentleman's Guide and a goose-stepping nazi for Cause and Effect) he has also lent his voice as Wesley Snipes (Battle Squid) and appeared on camera as 48Hours compulsory character Jerry Reid in Eye of the Beholder (2007 winner Best Mothra).

48Hours has been a particularly high point for Mike, showing his commitment to the cause by routinely sleeping less than other participants (and consuming significantly higher levels of caffeine). In early 2008 Mike co-animated the introductory sequence for COW TV on Dunedin's Channel 9. More recently Mike provided the original concept for what would become Sidekick, and completed the special effects sequence for The Speedster (2008 Mothra Film Festival winner Best Special Effects). In between bouts of Xbox 360 and spending time with his family, Mike enjoys keeping Daniel on his toes by regularly reminding him of the incomplete state of upcoming zombie film Safe Haven.
