Stuff that was on the front page, but isn't quite as new and exciting anymore.

It has been quite a while since our last update. Fear not! We are still alive. We have been reviewing the Safe Haven script, amassing props for costuming purposes (we will have pics up soon), and working on some other odds and ends. We have a number of projects in the pipeline which will be mentioned here before the end of the year. And of course there is always that crazy employment thing that gets done too. But for now I'll show you something we are quite excited about - BOTU Apparel:

I'm finally getting around to fleshing out some of those 'coming soon' sections. The first to be completed off are the story boards on the Battle Squid page.

20/10/07 - Posted by Daniel
Last weekend we undertook a second Zombie makeup test in preperation for Safe Haven. Check out the pics below and a whole bunch more on this page to see what we got up to. We finished up by ordering Velvet Burger in costume, due to popular demand we took photos of us doing it this time.

We've now got Battle Squid online for your perusal in all of its animated glory. Please don't hate us too much.

Battle Squid can be viewed here!

We've been pretty busy over the past week with screenings and the like. We were interviewed for both Scarfie TV and Cow TV, which was great fun - thanks to both Tristan and Nic for letting us crash their parties. Our films got pretty good reactions at the Mothra Film Festival, with Gentleman's Guide to Gangsterisms getting a particularly good crowd response. And on that note we can segueway into out latest update:

The Gentleman's Guide to Gangsterisms can be viewed here!

Tonight was kickoff for the 2007 Mothra film festival, and, I must say, reports of the demise of the festival have been greatly exaggerated. The quality of the entries was far superior to the majority of last year's entries - and this was just the first night. This bodes well for the rest of the week, as well as in terms of inspiring a new breed of filmmakers to pick up a camera, start filming, and become part of the Mothra anals. And yes, I missed out the other 'n' on purpose. 'Onist.

A couple of the entries had the punters wishing they were snorting sulphuric acid, but overall, it was two hours of eminently watchable celluloid shenanigans - and at $3 for 11 films, the best gold coin donation in town.

Once again, congrats to those who took the time to enter. It sounds a bit farty-bumlick, but it's good to see such creativity in our fair city. And while plans are afoot for the next BOTU behemoth, for the rest of the week, the crew can sit back and enjoy whats on offer. As well as the other films. Arf.

And in other news we've put up our 2007 Night of the Stars page. We even hung out with celebrities. We feel validated.

30/9/07 - Posted by Daniel
Last night was the 2007 Night of the Stars awards ceremony. It was a great night with plenty of quality entries. Congratulations to all of the winners.

Bus of the Undead Films managed a fantastic ten nominations and a total of three awards including the prestigious Best Actor and Best Mothra.

A hearty congratulations to Tim for wowing the judges with his performance, we are all very proud of you. You deserve every bit of that award buddy.

We will be making some updates to the site over the next few days, we've got plenty of photos to show and stories to tell. Keep your eyes peeled!

22/9/07 - Posted by Daniel
We've got more information regarding the screenings on our Mothra 2007 page. Please note that they have listed 6pm as the start time for screenings this year.

We've also made an update to the downloads section with a brand new Battle Squid wallpaper.

After some down time due to technical difficulties (also known as Hosting Direct being hacked last weekend), we're finally back online at a brand new url: www.busoftheundead.co.nz
Please update your links, we aren't sure when the old address will work again. In the meantime we have some more information regarding the screenings of the Mothra Film Festival:
Battle Squid - Tuesday 2nd October
Eye of the Beholder - Friday 5th October
Gentleman's Guide to Gangsterisms - Friday 5th October

8/9/07 - Posted by Daniel
Our entries for the 2007 Mothra Film Festival were submitted yesterday afternoon. We've got three films in this year:

- Battle Squid
- The Gentleman's Guide to Gangsterisms
- Eye of the Beholder

Night of the Stars is set for September 29th and the Films screen over the week of October 2nd to 5th.

We will be posting more specific information about screening dates as it becomes available to us.

Well I think you can guess what we've been working on. Mike, Damien and Ben have all completed dialogue recording for the film, that just leaves myself and Tim to go. There is a reasonable amount of work to finish up, so don't expect to hear too much from us for the next wee while. In the meantime here are some more pictures:

19/7/07 - Posted by Daniel
Mike has kindly sent through the poster for the Zombie Film which now (thankfully) has a name: Safe Haven. A big thanks to Mike for all of his hard work, I'm sure you'll agree that what we've got here is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to crack these out when Safe Haven is ready to be publicised!

The computer is back on its feet again. Hard drives suck majorly. I thought it best to throw a little teaser out regarding Battle Squid, check the pictures below:

1/7/07 - Posted by Daniel
The computer is almost fixed. In the meantime we've worked on some of our more practical elements. Check out our brand spanking new SWAT costume that we made this weekend. It is suppsed to be for the zombie film, but I'm sure we can use it in a bunch of other things. Now all we need is an actor who doesn't look like a tool while wearing it... Just ignore the fact that I'm only wearing socks in the full photo, we have decent shoes that we will use for the real thing.

26/6/07 - Posted by Daniel
Nothing much is happening at the moment as the main computer is currently out of action. We are awaiting the resurrection of the beast, and then we will be back on track with updates and continued work on The Gentleman's Guide to Gangsterisms. In the meantime we've got an update from Mike which should have been put up a few weeks ago. This is a preliminary shot of our post-apocalyptic main street and is a test for how we are going to combine our live action and matte painting elements.

16/6/07 - Posted by Daniel
Lots of updates all around the site which coincide with the launch of the new layout. Note that we've got a rapidly expanding page up for our 48Hours entry: Eye of the Beholder.
You can watch Eye of the Beholder by clicking here!
We've got another page for our work in progress: The Gentleman's Guide to Gangsterisms (not alot there at the moment, but that will quickly change). You may notice the profiles button on the navigation bar, giving you a quick link to the cast and crew. In addition we've expanded the about us and history section, and we've updated all manner of other pages to include up to date information.

11/6/07 - Posted by Daniel
The new layout is now up!

21/5/07 - Posted by Daniel
Wondering why you hadn't heard anything new in the last wee while? The answer is that we've been filming some new and exciting projects. First and foremost is our 48Hours 2007 entry:

Eye of the Beholder screens on Thursday May 24th at 7:30pm. Details are here.

29/4/07 - Posted by Daniel
Since we've got a brand new wide-screen monitor, it seemed fitting to produce a brand new wide-screen wallpaper. Find it in the downloads section.

21/4/07 - Posted by Daniel
The new computer is now up and running, and it is awesome. It should make all of those composite shots a hell of a lot faster, plus it will be a big help with 48Hours. We are even looking at going up to a Gigabit network in order to handle the expected traffic, and most of us now have gigabit enabled connections. Mike has put through another teaser shot for the zombie poster as seen on the right. He says it is almost finished - I can't wait to see how it comes out. Below we've got another test clip to show you. Pow, right in the kisser.

14/4/07 - Posted by Daniel
Time for an update. The new computer parts have arrived, and we are halfway through assembling the behemoth. In the meantime, check out Daniel getting shot in the head by Tim.

3/4/07 - Posted by Daniel
Mike has uploaded a new teaser for the poster he is working on. Click the image to see a larger version. Script work continues for both the Zombie Film and a smaller scale project. In addition we are pulling our stuff together for 48Hours, and we have some new equipment arriving over the next week or so. Should be a busy but fruitful period for us.

1/4/07 - Posted by Daniel
The first component of the green screen is finally done! We managed to record a quick test today with Tim successfully shooting himself in the head. That is his hand holding the gun in a different take and then composited together. How is that for a Birthday Present? Well done Tim, you are a trooper. Check out the clip on the right to see how it all came out.

31/3/07 - Posted by Daniel
The green screen is almost finished being painted. The last coat will get done today, then we will be ready for testing. The About Us and history section has been updated. More importantly, the Zombie film script is nearing completion... phew.

22/3/07 - Posted by Daniel
Work progresses on our upcoming Zombie film. This past weekend saw the purchase of 'Wellywood Green' paint for the construction of our green screen. This was the name the paint company gave to the shade of green paint purchased by Peter Jackson for his green screen work. In other zombie news, Mike has started work on our promotional material, namely a poster. FInd to the right an early sketch, but it gives a good idea of what is to come. Expect some more teaser pics as work progresses!

10/3/07 - Posted by Daniel
Just added to finish off the list:
Unquarried Landmass
That just leaves Hank Nova to go. We are continuing to reorganise the film pages to make them easier to navigate. The DVD work continues with Skim Milk working on the soundtrack.

5/3/07 - Posted by Daniel
For your viewing Pleasure:
Vive La Dugong
Get Rich or Roll the Die Trying
1692: The Salem Witch Trials

These have been up since early last week, but I've only just got around to announcing it now. They are largish files, please be patient.

25/2/07 - Posted by Daniel
We got an email from Brian (aka The Colonial) up in Auckland through the site. Despite starring in it, he hadn't seen Te Whare yet. So...
Te Whare and Te Furious is now online here!
In other news, there has been some slight reorganisation of the Te Whare page, and work has started on the 2006 DVD.

6/2/07 - Posted by Daniel
Can you guess what's new? It might be that great big video below. I've been fiddling with some new techniques and underneath is the result.

20/1/07 - Posted by Daniel
A bit of jiggery-pokery around the site (that is the technical term). A new wallpaper in the downloads section. Cleaned up the downloads to make it easier to navigate. Really, I'm just posting to show I'm still here.

11/1/07 - Posted by Daniel
Another year is here, and to celebrate we have a couple of new additions to the Downloads section: an Untitled Zombie Project wallpaper and the credits track from Get Rich or Roll the Die Trying. Click here to check them out.

14/11/06 - Posted by Daniel
More pics of our zombie makeup test can be found here.

13/11/06 - Posted by Daniel
So we have been thinking of doing a zombie film. Knowing that this could be quite an extensive undertaking, we thought we had better see if we can make a zombie first. If you can't make a zombie, you certainly can't make a zombie film. Here is a shot from the makeup test we did on Ben yesterday. Not too bad, if I do say so myself. Having never done anything remotely like this before, it was pretty cool to see how it ended up coming out. We celebrated by going out and ordering a pizza with Ben looking like this.

21/10/06 - Posted by Daniel
The site has slowly expanded over the past week. We now have a page up for Get Rich or Roll the Die Trying, and we have updated our Films page. Perhaps most significant of all is that we now have a copy of Sex With Mr. Collins online for you to watch. Has anyone noticed the animated Favicon on this page?

15/10/06 - Posted by Daniel
The site has had another overhaul as we begin to incorporate php. The banner images are now randomised clickable links which is cool. Te Whare now has screenshots from the film and we've got a more substantial awards night page.

8/10/06 - Posted by Daniel
We received 4 awards at the 2006 Mothra Film Festival! Read what we got here. I should have put this up earlier, but it has been all drinking, celebrations, screenings, and work. We've got more photos to go up which I'll do when I get a chance. Expect to see stuff trickle in over the next few weeks as time permits.
The awards list is here!

8/9/06 - Posted by Daniel
Time for some updates... check out the first shot from the publicity campaign for Te Whare here. And on the note of publicity, a page featuring the posters and fliers of Sex With Mr. Collins has finally gone up here.

8/9/06 - Posted by Daniel
The Deadline has cometh. We successfully completed our entries to the 2006 Mothra FIlm Festival and handed them in to the Social Activities office a little under an hour ago. It has been a tough and busy time getting there, but we have achieved what we wanted.
Screening Times Available Here!

24/8/06 - Posted by Daniel
Dates for the 2006 Mothra Film Festival are up. Night of the Stars Sept 30, Screenings Oct 3-6. We have entered Salem and VLD into the Night Vision 2006 Fringe Festival event.

19/8/06 - Posted by Daniel
Updates will be few and far between as our deadlines approach. Work has progressed on Te Whare. Currently Skim Milk is working on the score and Ben is in the process of colour-grading. Post production has started on our SouthCon Documentary entitled Get Rich Or Roll The Die Trying.

4/8/06 - Posted by Daniel
Further updates for the Te Whare section. We have an awesome matte painting by Mike in there.

16/7/06 - Posted by Daniel
Updates made to the Te Whare section. Check out a teaser clip there.

15/7/06 - Posted by Daniel
Just a quick update: Te Whare is now on the home stretch following a full day of filming with Martin and John on Wednesday, we have two new wallpapers up in the Downloads section, and the profiles are now all in the same format. Phew.

3/7/06 - Posted by Daniel
Those mp3 tracks are now up and ready for your listening pleasure. You'll find them on both the downloads page and Skim Milk's page.

30/6/06 - Posted by Daniel
A few updates have been made, check the downloads section for some actual downloads. Skim Milk's page is up and we will have some mp3 links there by the end of the weekend. The profiles are getting an overhaul - for an indication of the direction they are going head on over to Tim's, Skim Milk's or Daniel's profile. Now all we need are some real portrait shots...

24/6/06 - Posted by Daniel
Okay, so it is time for some updates. At the moment they consist of graphical changes - note the pretty new bar under the header with quick links to all of the films. It should aid in navigation. You will also notice the reference to our 48Hours film entry: Hank Nova - Galactic Defender. A rough page is now up for that and expect some more stuff to go there over the next week. I've also got the random banners working in php. Isn't it impressive?

22/6/06 - Posted by Daniel
Okay, so it has been over a month since my last post. I blame University, filming commitments, some other video projects and work. On the plus side, I am working on some updates - notably a 48Hours page - and some graphical changes. So I'll be working on them alongside looking for a job and working on the SouthCon'07 site with Tim and Higgins. Almost sounds like I'm not idle...

12/5/06 - Posted by Daniel
I am pleased to announce that we will be getting together to enter the 48Hours NZ film competition. It will be hectic as hell, but we've got a lot of eager people on board. Skim Milk is even going to attempt a soundtrack in the time limit!
In other news, I found out that a photo of the Sex With Mr. Collins banner has featured in an exhibition in New Jersey.

22/4/06 - Posted by Daniel
A lot of progress has been made on the upcoming action trailer, and we have decided to announce the title - Te Whare and Te Furious. The film stars Martin and Brian, with appearances by shiteloads of others. Work started on this way back in November 2005 and we still have more filming to do, with another shoot taking place tomorrow. This doesn't really give an inclination as to how complex it is, but rather how lax we have been between shoots. A page for the film is now up and can be accessed by clicking here or through the Coming Soon section. Perhaps you will see some photos soon as well...

19/4/06 - Posted by Daniel
I have fixed a number of minor problems with the site, generally making it look more coherent across different browsers. It was looking a bit munted on Firefox for a while there. Unquarried Landmass has been updated, now actually having content. I have also implemented some new profiles across the site for some people - happy reading.

15/4/06 - Posted by Daniel
So Salem is now actually online. Yay. Click here to check it out. The new look is now deployed site-wide, hope you like it.

9/4/06 - Posted by Daniel
I'm working on a slew of updates which will hopefully make the site easier to update and faster for everyone. An online version of Salem is looking increasingly likely too. I would have liked it to be done soon, but now I have that assignment to do...

6/4/06 - Posted by Daniel
I have added a new piece to the side bar - a 'now playing' section. At the moment it only links to Dribbly, because that is all that is available online. Expect to see Vive La Dugong there in the next few months (as I get time to optimise the flash and recreate the video elements). If we find some cheap (well free) hosting we may even do an encode of Salem or something like that. These changes will only be happening on the front page, until I figure out my CSS a bit better. And I still can't get those damned flash documents to work.

3/4/06 - Posted by Daniel
We now have a remixed track from Dribbly available for you to listen to here. I've started working on fixing the flash elements - the invitation is again working. Now on to those empty banners. The nav bar is getting some work done to it - you may notice the Fan Mail section. Salem has had a big update, and I fixed some of the typos.
